Strictly Come Dancing: Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez fuel romance rumours

Earlier this week it was reported that actress Gemma Atkinson had infuriated her Strictly Come Dancing rival, Alexandra Burke, after sparking up a romance with her professional dance partner, Gorka Marquez.

Gemma had previously dismissed claims that there was anything going on between herself and the Spanish heartthrob, however, both parties have added fuel to the fire this weekend.

Refusing to deny the speculation, a coy Gemma told The Star that she didn’t want to “talk about her love life”, adding: “I don’t feel I need to respond to anyone about what I’m doing.

“I’ve had to talk about who I’m dating for the past 15 years. You’ve got to take everything with a pinch of salt.”

Gorka also had a chat with the publication, and although he insisted that he and Gemma are “just friends”, he admitted that they do see each other outside of work.

He shared: “We hang out together and do some workouts and I think she is beautiful.”

It had previously been reported that Gemma and Gorka’s blossoming relationship is the “talk of the make-up room”, with Gorka’s celebrity partner Alexandra unhappy with the romance.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider said: “Not surprisingly, Alexandra is furious about how it might impact her chances of winning. She’s very ambitious and is nervous about it all.”

Emmerdale star Gemma is paired with Aljaz Skorjanec, but the source went on to claim that she and Gorka “clicked” when they met during group rehearsals and she is enjoying “getting to know him”.

Previous reports claimed that Gemma and Gorka were “all over each other” at the dancer’s birthday party – speculation that Gemma quickly shot down.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the actress said: “He didn’t have a birthday party. All of us are staying in the same hotel – the cast, the contestants and some of the production staff.

“One night before the launch, about 15 of us had a meal together and we told the restaurant to bring out a cake for Gorka.

“We all sang happy birthday and I was sitting with Simon [Rimmer] and Giovanni [Pernice], not Gorka, but I read we were all over each other. It wasn’t true.”

She added: “I’ve only seen [Gorka] for the launch and live shows. He’s a friend and the only thing we’ve shared is his guacamole recipe.”
