Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice on Amanda Abbington 'feud’, Anton Du Beke friendship and famous girlfriend

Giovanni Pernice rose to fame ever since he joined Strictly Come Dancing as a professional dancer in 2015. The star managed to make it to the final in his first year on the BBC hit competition with Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote.

He went on to win the iconic Glitterball trophy in 2021 with EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, who was the show's first ever deaf contestant.

The duo won over the hearts of the judges and viewers when they famously performed a "silent" dance to Zara Larsson's Symphony.

The dance became one of the show's most iconic moments and won a Bafta as TV's Must-See Moment. During his time on the show he has also been paired with a number of stars such as Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore and Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh.

Now, Giovanni has allegedly quit the popular BBC dance competition after ten years following accusations about his controversial training techniques from former celebrity partner Amanda Abbington, who made an early exit from the show.

Amanda later said she was “diagnosed with mild PTSD” and received death threats following her stint on the BBC dance competition.

She did not give a specific reason when she announced her decision to leave the show. At the time she shared a post on social media, which read: “I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue.”

Is Giovanni in a relationship?

Giovanni's has had a number of romantic histories with some famous faces including Strictly star Georgia May Foote, Love Island's Maura Higgins, and Pussycat Dolls' Ashley Roberts.

Giovani has since gone public with his model girlfriend Molly Brown. They couple recently sparked engagement rumours after Molly was pictured leaving his show, wearing a dazzling ring on her finger. But a spokesperson for the dancer has told the MailOnline they are not engaged.

Friendship and TV show with Anton Du Beke

Giovanni is good friends with Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke and last year they starred together in BBC show Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily.

On their journey, the pals also travel to Marbella, Granada, San Sebastian, Bilbao and Benidorm. The duo are also gearing up for their joint UK tour – Anton and Giovanni Together later this year, MEN reports.

Speaking about their friendship, Giovanni previously said: “It sounds a bit cliched but everything this man does, I learn from him. So when we are on stage, whatever he says, whatever he moves, whatever he does, I’m learning still from him as he’s been there for ever and he knows, and he keeps going.

“So I can’t get sick of that. And we understand each other. I know when he needs his own moment and when I need my own moment. It’s a relationship. I call him the Padrino – the ­Godfather – because he really, really looks after me."
