Strictly Come Dancing couple Max George and Maisie Smith have announced some exciting career news.

In a joint Instagram post, they shared a poster for their latest project: Jeff Wayne's musical version of The War of the Worlds, which tours next year from March to May in cities such as Dublin, Newcastle, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and London.

"CANNOT wait for this. Heading to arenas all over the UK we will be playing the iconic parts of Parson Nathanial & Beth in the infamous production of Jeff Waynes 'The War Of The Worlds' Tickets available right now link in my bio @twotw_official #thewaroftheworlds," read the caption.

Also featuring Star Wars and Schindler's List legend Liam Neeson as The Journalist in 3D hologram form, Wayne's rock-opera take on the HG Wells sci-fi book was originally produced as an album in 1978 before touring as a concert from 2006 onwards.

The Wanted singer George and EastEnders actor Smith received some unwanted attention concerning their dating age gap last year.

"If it wasn't that, it would be something else," Smith told The Sun at the time.

"People don't understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship, and I think they also forget that I'm a consenting 21-year-old woman who's actually been working longer than Max!"

"I don't notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family. My mum Julia is the one who reads through all the comments. I got a message from her yesterday, saying: 'Just ignore them, you two were made for each other,'" she added.

"I think that just puts it into perspective."

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Tickets for Strictly's 2024 live arena tour are available now.
