Former Strictly Come Dancing stars Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec have left hospital following the birth of their first child.

The couple, who married in 2017, welcomed Lyra Rose into the world on Friday (July 28), and confirmed today (July 31) that they had left the hospital.

“Step by step ❤️❤️❤️” wrote Aljaž on Instagram, accompanying a photo of the couple as they headed home with baby Lyra.

The comment section was filled with numerous messages of congratulations, with former Strictly star Ashley Roberts writing: “Fam is headed home 😍 love you’s”

Upon Lyra’s birth over the weekend, Janette shared a photo of the happy family on the ward, with both the professional dancers looking delighted as they posed in a black and white photo.

The pair revealed earlier this month that they had originally settled on a name long before the birth, until they opted to remove a long-held choice in the lead-up to their big day.

“We settled on a name about eight years ago, but then as soon as we fell pregnant, we completely erased that one from the options,” revealed Aljaž. “Then, not that long ago, Janette suggested a name and that was the one that we kind of stuck with.

“Now, whenever we caress the bump we say the name. People say that you need to see the baby before you solidify it, but I feel like we do have a name,” he added.

Janette competed in eight series of Strictly before eventually departing to present sister-show It Takes Two. The spin-off recently found a new co-host for Janette in the shape of former contestant Fleur East, with the singer replacing Rylan Clark earlier this year.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
