Strictly Come Dancing has revealed week eight routines and the couples will be bringing plenty of heat to the ballroom with a line-up of Sambas, Paso Dobles and Argentine Tangos.

We have hit the half way point in the competition and the Glitterball Trophy is in sight for the couples.

The BBC One contest is moving ever closer to the grand final and the remaining couples are training harder than ever to be in with a chance of impressing this weekend.

All the Strictly dances and songs revealed

  • Angela R and Kai: Paso Doble to Hung Up by Madonna

  • Angela S and Carlos: Waltz to With You I’m Born Again by Billy Preston & Syreeta

  • Annabel and Johannes: Samba to Whenever, Wherever by Shakira

  • Bobby and Dianne: American Smooth to Ghost of You by 5 Seconds of Summer

  • Ellie and Vito: Rumba to True Colours by Cyndi Lauper

  • Krishnan and Lauren: Samba to Bamboléo by Gipsy Kings

  • Layton and Nikita: Argentine Tango to Tattoo by Loreen

  • Nigel and Katya: Couple’s Choice to Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars

Former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and her partner Vito Coppola are the pair to beat this week after finishing top of the leaderboard in week seven with a near-perfect 39 points for their American Smooth.

This time, Leach and Coppola could fuel the recent rumours that they have fallen for each other as they will dance a steamy Rumba to Cyndi Lauper's True Colours.

Actor and performer Layton Williams and his partner Nikita Kuzmin are rarely far from the top scores and could have another hit on their hands this weekend as they try out a dramatic Argentine Tango to Tattoo by Loreen.

Williams has come in for criticism over his previous dance experience in West End shows – could the technical routine finally be enough to convince viewers that he is a novice in Strictly's styles of dance?

Last week saw broadcaster Angela Rippon and her partner Kai Widdrington in the dance off for the first time, where judges opted to save them over Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk.

As Strictly's oldest ever contestant, Rippon has stunned with her flexibility and her week eight Paso Doble to Hung Up by Madonna could be another chance to prove her skill.

Meanwhile, TV presenter Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu managed to avoid the dance off despite being in joint last place with Thomas and Mushtuk based on scores.

They will be hoping this week's Waltz to With You I’m Born Again by Billy Preston and Syreeta will see them back on form and climbing the leaderboard again.

In week seven, tennis ace Annabel Croft and her partner Johannes Radebe brought viewers to tears with an emotional Couple's Choice, but this Saturday they will change things up with more of a party feel as they dance a Samba to Whenever, Wherever by Shakira.

Also taking on the Samba this week are journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy and his partner Lauren Oakley, who will perform theirs to Gipsy Kings classic Bamboléo.

There are few ballroom numbers in week eight, but EastEnders star Bobby Brazier and his partner Dianne Buswell have bagged one of them as they will dance an American Smooth to Ghost of You by 5 Seconds of Summer.

Finally, look out for actor Nigel Harman and his partner Katya Jones trying out the Couple’s Choice to Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars - what style of dance they will go for remains to be seen.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One at 6.05pm on Saturday.
