Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has urged fans to check their breasts amid her cancer battle.

The dancer was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, and has been emotionally documenting her journey since as she undergoes chemotherapy.

On the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Amy has taken part in a video for Wales-based charity Tenovus Cancer Care, where she urged people to raise awareness and check their breasts.

"Hello everyone, it's Amy here from Strictly Come Dancing," she began. "Now October, it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, something very close to my heart as I am currently receiving chemotherapy for my breast cancer.

"And I want to ask you guys a favour. Please help raise awareness. There are too many of us suffering with this. But also we need to get more people checking their chests. Let's make it a regular thing. It just needs to be once a month, get to know your own chests.

"Please, please, please, let's speak about it, let's raise awareness – social posts, talk to your friends and family galore. Please, please, please, let's bring the community together, let's do all we possibly can for Breast Cancer Awareness Month," Amy added.
