Strictly Come Dancing contestant Angela Scanlon has revealed that she now knows who her professional dancing partner is on this year's upcoming series – and she is "delighted" about who it is.

Scanlon, who is a television broadcaster and author, joined the cast of the 2023 series earlier this year alongside the likes of Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas, and EastEnders star Bobby Brazier.

She recently took to Instagram to confirm that she now knows who her professional dancing partner is, telling fans in the video: "It's a man. And he's really good at dancing."

In her caption, she wrote: "I now know who my #Strictly partner is. I didn’t realise how hideously anxious I was waiting, the control freak within losing her sweet little mind."

She continued: "Anyway, I’ve been put out of my misery & I am bloody delighted, we haven’t started training yet but I already feel a bit calmer which I’m sure is deluded but I’m leaving in for now… Hit me your guess?!!"

When she was announced as a contestant for this series, Scanlon said the timing felt right for this year.

"It's been kind of in the ether for a number of years and we've been close. It just felt right this year and I believe in feelings and timing and all of those sorts of things. I'm not particularly fit, I've no idea how my pelvic floor is going to react to that amount of jumping," she said.

"I've never done any of these dances in real life. It certainly feels like there is room to learn."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
