Ashley Roberts has backed her boyfriend Giovanni Pernice not to fall victim to the so-called Strictly Come Dancing 'curse'.

The former Pussycat Dolls star confirmed the pair's romance with an Instagram post in January after they met on last year's series.

And, appearing on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (May 21), Ashley told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that she isn't worried about Giovanni straying with a new dance partner.

You know, as goes the Strictly curse...

"We weren't partnered up, we ended up having a bit of a romance on the show but it ended up evolving into something much bigger," Ashley said.

"I feel like we have a real connection, but he's also really supportive."

Piers asked: "Are you worried about him with some hot woman he gets placed with? Whoever it may be?"

"That's a good question but I do trust him," she replied.

In March, Giovanni provided fans with an update on his "amazing" relationship with Ashley.

"It's going amazing," he said. "We'll be living in England together hopefully. We're happy."

So it seems that things are looking good for these two.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV. Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One this autumn.
