Strike Action Leads to Long Lines on London Transport

Strike action by thousands of members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers (RMT) on Wednesday, March 15, caused long lines for the remaining active train lines in London.

Footage recorded by @Ealing_Sam shows a large number of passengers waiting to exit Tottenham Court Road station.

Along with two Underground lines, the station is served by the Elizabeth Line, which Transport for London (TfL) said was running on March 15. “Services will be much busier than normal and queuing systems may be in place,” TfL said.

The RMT said more than 10,000 members had “shut London Underground in a strike over pensions, job cuts and attacks on working conditions.”

Teachers, university staff, junior doctors, civil servants, and journalists were also striking on Wednesday. Credit: @Ealing_Sam via Storyful
