Striker Gabby McGill leads departures from Airdrie this summer as they prepare for next season’s assault on the Championship.

McGill, 23, is leaving the New Broomfield club alongside striker Calum Gallagher and defender Callum Fordyce, which were previously announced as they joined Arbroath and Raith Rovers, respectively.

Goalkeeper Robbie Hemfrey, who was brought in as emergency cover in the latter stages of last season, departs at the end of his short-term deal.

Defenders Joe Cassidy, Corrie Fellows and Nathan Gillespie, midfielder Alasdair Spalding and striker Dom Kavanagh are also moving on, as are loanees Murray Aiken, Chris Donnell, Arron Lyall, Kanayo Megwa and Josh O’Connor.

Player-boss Rhys McCabe, Elliot Dunlop, Gavin Gallagher, Mason Hancock, Lewis McGregor, Dean McMaster, Liam McStravick, Cameron Rowley, Nikolay Todorov and Craig Watson are all under contract, with discussions ongoing with the remainder of the squad.

Physio JD Peacock has left, and Ben Richardson joins the club from Kilmarnock.

Striker McGill joined Airdrie in July 2021, scoring an impressive 32 goals in three seasons, despite lengthy spells on the sidelines.

McGill’s last-gasp strike sent the 2022/23 play-off final against Hamilton Accies into extra-time and a penalty shoot-out that the Diamonds ultimately won.

A statement issued by Airdrie read: “We wish the boys all the best with their future careers.”
