Stroud has had its say in the General Election 2024 and it has rejected Conservative candidate Siobhan Baillie's bid for re-election and voted for Dursley GP Simon Opher. The Labour gain had been predicted in recent polls and from the exit poll released at 10pm last night.

The exit poll showed Labour on course for a huge majority in the UK. Dr Opher was elected with 25,630 votes to Ms Baillie's 14,219.

Reform UK's Chris Lester gained 6,329 votes. The results were the first to be announced in Gloucestershire.
