A bungalow in an ‘truly stunning location’ overlooking Porthcurno beach which has been owned by the same family for over century is going under the auctioneer’s gavel.

Porthscylla is a detached one-bedroom chalet style property nestled into cliffs near the famous open-air Minack Theatre in an area featured in the popular TV series Poldark.

It sits on about 0.78 hectares (1.94 acres) of predominantly cliffside land, with a level area located towards the top offering potential for formalisation. It also has planning permission in principle from Cornwall Council for demolition and replacement.

Porthscylla has a freehold guide price of £395,000 plus in Clive Emson Auctioneers’ latest sale ending on June 12 when 174 lots are going under the hammer.

Senior Auction Appraiser Katie Semmens said: “This is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a chalet style bungalow in a truly stunning location overlooking the picturesque Porthcurno beach.

“With breathtaking views, it neighbours the famous Minack Theatre in an area which featured in the popular TV series Poldark.

“Porthscylla has been in the same family for a century and benefits from Permission in Principle for demolition and replacement giving potential for a Grand Designs-style project, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.”

Porthcylla is being auctioned jointly with Marshall’s Estate Agents of Penzance.
