Summer has finally landed in the capital, with Londoners basking in the warmest weather of the year so far in their local parks and gardens. But really, there's no better way to cool off on a hot day than by taking a refreshing plunge in one of London's wild swimming spots.

Just a 15-minute journey south of Croydon and out of Caterham, you'll find an open-air swimming lake with water so crystal clear, you'd be forgiven for thinking you've landed on a tropical island. Divers Cove, a breathtaking 7.3-acre reservoir nestled in the Surrey village of Godstone, was originally excavated for sand extraction.

The lake boasts pristine waters, thanks to its natural biodiversity and sandy bottom. After a chilly dip, swimmers can warm up in the hand-built sauna pods situated near the lake or enjoy a refreshing beverage and snack from the on-site café. Enjoy delicious pizzas after a Friday night swim, or tuck into a bacon sandwich for breakfast after a morning plunge, as reported by Surrey Live.

During the chillier months, there are also delightful hot tubs surrounded by fairy lights heated via a wood-burning stove, using no chemicals. A swim in the lake costs £10.49, or frequent visitors can purchase season memberships ranging from £25 to £50. Children aged seven and above can swim if accompanied by an adult.

There are also heated male and female changing rooms, and wetsuits can be rented or bought on-site for swimming on cooler days. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards on-site year round, and the sheltered location of the pool makes it perfect for swimming in all weathers.

Situated just beyond the M25 border, this open-water swimming lake in Godstone, Surrey, is easily reachable from the capital. A 40-minute train ride from Victoria to Redhill will take you to the nearest station, and from there it's a short taxi or bus ride hop on the 400 or 410.

For those driving from South or West London, the site is also easily accessible. It's just under an hour's drive from areas like Brixton and Wandsworth. You can reach it by taking North Park Lane off the A45, then make two right turns until you pass through a set of double gates.
