Following the recent cast reveal for James Gunn's Suicide Squad sequel/reboot, the director is now telling fans not to expect any further news for quite some time.

Gunn took to Twitter on Saturday (September 14) to respond to one fan who asked when role details will be announced.

"Some characters will get out. Some already have (although some reported on, including from reputable sources, have been very wrong). But, in all honesty, I don’t know if we’ll officially release character info for a long long while to come," he wrote.

He then followed that up with another tweet, in which he claimed he will not be promoting or sharing any new information about the film for the meantime.

"Right now I’m simply focused on MAKING the greatest movie I can, not promoting it or sharing info about it. And working on Suicide Squad - a property I’ve loved for many, many years - is truly a dream come true."

The official cast list for the film confirmed that Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and the Squad's overseer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) are all returning from the first movie.

While major newcomers include Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Storm Reid, John Cena, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi and Jennifer Holland in (officially) unconfirmed roles, while the director will also reunite with Guardians cast members Michael Rooker and (his brother) Sean Gunn.

But for now, it seems DC fans are just going to have to wait to find out why Peter Capaldi's role has required to completely shave his head.

The Suicide Squad is released in cinemas on August 6, 2021.
