The city's newest festival was considered such a success that it's set to return for a second outing next summer.

Kaiser Chiefs brought the curtain down on Southampton Summer Sessions on Sunday after seven amazing shows in Guildhall Square over three weeks.

But organisers have confirmed they won't be the last band to grace the temporary stage opposite the city's O2 Guildhall, and that it will be reconstructed in time for another concert series in June 2025.

A spokesperson said: "That's a wrap! We loved every second of it. Thank you to all the artists who performed and everyone who came. We will see you next year for round two!"

TK Maxx presents Southampton Summer Sessions got underway on June 15 with Sir Tom Jones wowing the crowds with hit after hit from his back catalogue.

The music legend warmed up the chilly crowd with It's Not Unusual, What's New Pussycat?, Sex Bomb, Delilah, You Can Leave Your Hat On and Kiss.

Delilah delighted the audience an hour in and was followed by You Can Leave Your Hat On and Kiss.

The following night, the sun came out just in time for an appearance from Madness. Suggs sent the enthusiastic audience into delirium by kicking off the 90-minute gig with One Step Beyond, followed by a further array of hits including Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, and House of Fun.

A week later, it was the turn of Nile Rodgers & CHIC, supported by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The American disco band performed an array of classic hits including Good Times, Le Freak, and Everybody Dance. As if that wasn’t enough, Nile Rodgers also showcased a range of tunes he’s previously written and produced for the likes of David Bowie, Madonna, and Duran Duran – including Let’s Dance, Material Girl, and Notorious.

Paloma Faith cancelled her scheduled appearance despite playing Glastonbury two days later, but Placebo, Air and Loyle Carner impressed before Ricky Wilson and co. brought the event to a close.

Hits like Ruby, I Predict a Riot and the intense show-closer Oh My God ensured the night was a testament to the enduring appeal and stage prowess of Kaiser Chiefs.
