Gavin Casalengo has addressed taking over as narrator in the latest episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

During the latest instalment of the Prime Video series, the love triangle between Jeremiah (Casalengo), Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) continued to intensify.

Based on Jenny Han's popular book trilogy of the same name, the series follows Belly and the romances she experiences while vacationing with her family friends over the summer.

But instead of hearing Belly as the usual narrator, viewers were left hearing Jeremiah over the episode instead.

The move should come as no surprise, too, with viewers taken inside his mind to gain further understanding of his and Belly's dynamic.

Delving into the opportunity to narrate the episode, Casalengo told EW that the experience was a "blast".

"What's so cool about Belly and Lola's performance is the inner monologue," he said. "Everything that's in her head is on paper and it helps with our jobs of how to get to those places.

"To be able to see what was intended behind Jeremiah's actions and mind and reactions and emotions was really cool because that's not a very common occurrence.

"I feel like we'll probably never have another job in our lives that is going to be similar to that, where it basically tells us what we're thinking."

Casalegno added that narrating the episode was "a good opportunity and a learning experience", but that recording was a "different story".

"It was an interesting experience," he concluded. "As I'm saying things and seeing things, I can remember what I was saying in my head with what was written on the paper.

"It was fun translating dialogue through my eyes with my voice from a studio booth hundreds of miles away. It was really weird."

Episodes 1-3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 are available to watch now on Prime Video with new episodes dropping weekly on Fridays.
