Super League clubs offered Adam Doueihi in unexpected recruitment development

Super League clubs have been offered Wests Tigers talent Adam Doueihi ahead of the 2025 season. Rugby League Live can reveal that the 25-year-old has been presented as a recruitment opportunity to clubs ahead of the coming season.

Doueihi's NRL contract is set to expire at the end of the current season and news of his Super League interest follows reports in Australia that he has been offered a huge pay cut to remain with Wests beyond the end of the season.

It was reported on 100% Footy that Doueihi had been offered a fifth of what he's current on, with just a one-year contract offered. He is closing in on a return to action after a third ACL injury during the early stages of his career.

Doueihi, when fit, has been a standout performer for the Tigers. However, since joining the Tigers in a big-money move from South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2020, he has managed just 57 appearances in four-and-a-half seasons.

That has seen the Tigers offer a significantly reduced deal to his current one, currently earning £400,000 per season. That would put him among the highest-paid players in Super League, but with the offer currently on the table much lower, he is now exploring the possibility of a Super League move next year, with several clubs aware of his availability.

While injuries have horribly disrupted his career, Doueihi has been a star performer in the NRL when able to play a consistent run of games. 2021 proved to be his best season, as he notched nine tries and 17 assists for a Wests side that finished 13th in the table.

Still only 25, Doueihi should have his best days ahead of him should he be able to put his rotten injury luck behind him, and the prospect of having a player of such talent in their squad may prove to be a temptation for Super League clubs given that he has now become a more realistic acquisition from a financial perspective.
