Supergirl season three is all about the reign of, well, Reign.
The newest baddie is one of the Worldkillers, genetically engineered super soldiers who survived the destruction of Krypton.
The twist is that, somehow, Reign is sharing the body of single mother Samantha, who has no idea of the reality of her situation.
Playing dual roles, one of which is a baddie, is surely an incredibly fun gig for actress Odette Annable, but in fact she set out to play someone totally different.
"I actually auditioned for the role of Alex," she told Entertainment Weekly, "but even just in that audition that I had, I loved working with them in the room.
"I'm so happy that it's part of the DC world and that I'm putting a toe in. These guys are so amazing. Andrew (Kreisberg) is so, so great to work with."
Speaking about her character, she said: "What I think is really special about this storyline is it's a slow play and you'll get to see this whole heartbreaking story unfold in a really - they're taking their time with it, and we have the time to do it."
If Annable had landed the role of Alex Danvers, she would have been part of the show's power couple with Maggie Sawyer, which could be coming to an end with the departure of Floriana Lima.
Supergirl premieres on Monday, October 9 at 8pm ET. The show airs on Sky 1 in the UK.
