Supermodel Edie Campbell reveals surgery results after freak accident
Edie Campbell has taken to social media to tell fans about an injury she received during a freak accident with a horse.
The 33-year-old supermodel revealed to her 133,000 followers she was forced to have emergency plastic surgery after she was kicked in the face by a horse.
Sharing a carousel of horrific, blood-spattered pictures on Instagram, Campbell went on to describe the “dramatic turn of events” that saw her go under the knife.
“I’m okay though,” she added, reassuring fans. “Thanks to the speed and wizardry of my surgeon I escaped with just a cute small scar.
“Had the most swollen and wonky face for a bit and an inability to smile. Like a chipmunk but much much less cute.”
Campbell added there may have been one small silver lining after her horse kicked her in the face.
“I gave up smoking, so - paradoxically - getting double barrelled by half a ton of horse might actually have increased my life span,” she joked.
And while the accident may have looked and felt horrific, the catwalk regular added she was “v v lucky” that her eyes and teeth remained intact.
“Let me tell you it is a relief I never made a career of being a smiling model,” she told one friend in a text.
Responding to one concerned friend, Campbell said she hadn’t been put off horse riding, and was getting back in the saddle just one week after the accident.
As well as being an accomplished model, having walked Burberry, Chanel and Balenciaga, Campbell is also a talented horse rider.
Having started horse-riding when she was just five years old, Campbell has won numerous trophies in ladies’ races.
She also competes in dressage, showjumping and cross country.
