Supporters Await Release of January 6 Inmates Outside Washington Jail
Supporters gathered outside a jail in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, January 21, to await the release of inmates charged in connection with the January 6 capitol riot, after they were pardoned by President Donald Trump the previous day.
Footage from X user @ACarolinaGuy shows Treniss Evans, founder of the legal group Condemned USA and advocate for January 6 defendants, speaking to the crowd and urging people to call the US Marshals’ office and demand the release of the rest of the pardoned inmates.
“We have a demand that they follow an executive order that was ordered by the United States president yesterday, this has to happen right now,” Evans says in the video.
Evans was joined by William Sarsfield III, a January 6 detainee, who was released from a detention center in Philadelphia before he traveled to Washington to join the supporters.
The founder of the anti-government group Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, also stood with the crowd outside the jail on Tuesday following his own release from prison late on Monday, according to reports. Credit: @ACarolinaGuy via Storyful
