Surprise Ed Sheeran Concert Fills Halls of Melbourne Children's Hospital

Ed Sheeran treated staff, patients, and visitors at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to a surprise concert on Tuesday, February 28, ahead of his record-breaking concert in the city on Friday.

Footage recorded by Luke Hargrave shows people filling every available space in the hospital lobby to see the star perform.

Dr Eric Levi, a surgeon at RCH Melbourne, told The Age that Sheeran’s surprise concert was attended by lots of staff and visitors. "It was perfect timing as well, between clinic and operating times, so lots of people were filling the hallways … about four or five floors of people watching from above,” Levi said.

Sheeran will play concerts in Melbourne on Thursday and Friday. The Friday concert has broken the Australian record for most tickets sold to a show, according to Billboard, with at least 107,000 tickets sold. Credit: Luke Hargrave via Storyful
