Surprise! Mindy Kaling shares sweet news of her 3rd baby—and reveals her name

Mindy Kaling might just be the queen of the secret pregnancy. If it feels like déjà vu that’s because “The Office” actress surprised fans with her first and second pregnancy. And now, she’s here to do it all over again the with announcement of her 3rd child.

In a series of adorable photos, the writer/producer shared her news on Instagram alongside a beautiful caption.

Her caption reads: “In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne. She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined. When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!”

The star previously welcomed her daughter, Katherine, in 2017 and her son, Spencer, in 2020.

The Instagram photo carousel also includes a beautiful photo taken while she was pregnant and another from her hospital stay, featuring her two oldest kids. If you follow her work, you know she’s not only a multi-hyphenated power house or working mom, but she’s also super passionate about shielding her children from media exposure. Although she’s never shared the details regarding her previous pregnancies, she has been vocal about referring to herself as a “single mom.” Speculation has run rampant over the years with people calling her “Office” co-star and longtime friend, BJ Novak, the father of her kids. Kaling previously addressed those rumors in a 2022 interview with Marie Claire stating, “They have such a great relationship. If that’s what is going to be titillating to people, I’ll take it.”

Kaling has also shared her thoughts on parenthood as a mom with two kiddos under her roof. “With two, it seems like there’s 10 children in my home,” she explains. “It’s like my entire house looks just like a preschool. It’s like full, full, of toys.” Now that there’s a third little one to add to their ranks, we can only imagine it’ll be triple the joy.

Between the many hats she wears as a working mom, Kaling is just like all of us when it comes to the juggling act that we all struggle with. “As moms, we feel so much guilt when we think that we can do it ourselves. Whether we work full time, part time, stay at home…it is an overwhelming job. And it’s enjoyable job. And I think of the amount of time I wasted before I realized that I need full-time help as a single mom who has two jobs. It is that amount of guilt and wasted time—it was one of those moments where I’m thinking like, wow, we only live like life once.”
