Surrey LGBTQ+ events happening during Pride month

June is a special time in the LGBTQ+ community as it is Pride month. While you may normally picture loud colourful marches, Pride is being marked in lots of different ways across Surrey, throughout the month.

The big Pride in Surrey march is happening in Guildford this year. However, this will happen on September 21 meaning there is lots of space for other events in June. Spread across the county they include cinema screenings, live music and lots more besides.

Below is a list of some of the events happening in Woking, Guildford and Epsom. You can find more information on upcoming pride events through Pride in Surrey as well as information on other LGBTQ+ services.

Woking

June 13 - Nova Cinema Screen: Call Me By Your Name (age rating 15) This award winning film covers the summer love story of a teenager (played by Timothee Chalamet) and a guest staying at his parents house. Initially released in 2017, the Nova Cinema in woking is putting it on this week. It will be shown at 7pm with tickets starting at £10. You can find more information here.

June 15 - Surrey Rainbow Choir: The Surrey Rainbow Choir will be bringing Rock N’ Rainbow to the Pheonix to the Fiery Bird in Woking, With an open mic, and lots of dancing this should be an energetic night Tickets are £8 and the event starts at 7pm. You can find out more here.

Epsom

June 13 - The Ginistry: This is a meetup group that aims to bring people in the LGBTQ community together. The event is free and happens on the 2nd Thursday of every month. You can find out more here.

June 17 - Epsom Picturehouse: The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert:

Follow three showgirls across the Australian outback to the gig of their dreams in this joyful, hilarious – and above all, gloriously camp – Glitter Cycle cult classic. OUT, which champions LGBTQ+ cinema, is bringing back some favourites to the big screen this June to mark the arrival of Pride Month.

June 24th - Epsom Picturehouse: Funeral Parade of Roses:

Another screening of classic LGBTQ+ cinema, this film brings '60s Tokyo's queer subcultures to life . Focused on a love triangle this film has a four star rating on IMBb.

Guildford

June 20 - Drag bingo: An evening that combined Bingo and Drag. Tickets are £5 and include two bingo rounds with prizes from the Fallen Angel bar. You can find more information here.

There are other events going on, not just in June but throughout the year. There is still the opportunity to join the parade in September, and more details about that event will come out soon.
