Children will love visiting this family-friendly spot in Surrey with a huge splash pad and green fields to run around in. Overlooking the River Thames with a number of free activities it is a must-visit this summer.

Located northwest of Surrey, it’s easy to get to, with great nearby transport links. The Lammas Recreation Ground near the M25, M3, and the A30 is the perfect place for cooling off in the summer heat, with an aquatic oasis with fountains and huge water jets.

It’s great for playdates for kids, especially if children and their friends want to have water fights. The water fun doesn’t end there, as the Lammas overlooks the River Thames, and there’s a spot for self-drive boat hire too.

The Lammas has great reviews on Google too, one visitor wrote: “Beautiful park to spend your time with your family friends .. clean and tidy.. beautiful green cover lot of play items for kids and exercise options for adults as well. Being next to river with lot of options for boating .. this makes a one of special place for all age groups.”

While another wrote: “A huge green space, dog friendly, with several fenced play areas, divided by age appropriateness including two with water features activated by a ground 'plates' and soft fall ground in bright colours.

“A large exercise area has the kinds of machines you'd normally only find in gyms with panels explaining their use and adjustable weights. The riverside area is fenced off adding safety for children, with access to boat services via child proof gates. A small shop sells ice creams and hot dogs.”

Other activities available at the Lammas include three free tennis courts. No booking is needed, simply turn up to play. A crazy golf course was upgraded in 2021, with a nine-holes and a range of easy to challenging puts. It’s got miniature local landmarks like Windsor Castle and its grounds.

To play golf participants will need to buy tickets, which can be done on the day. Adult tickets cost £4.50, and £4 for children, or go for a family ticket with two adults and children, for £15.

Older children will love the BMX and skate park. It’s got ramps, rails, and bowls for skateboard, bike and scooter riders to showcase their skills.

The recreation ground has a riverside cafe called Little Green Boat Company which is a kiosk with outside seating. It serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks and hot sandwiches. Visitors can rent boats from the cafe, and will also be able to rent towels and nappies for the splash pad. It also offers rental tennis rackets, and toys for children too.
