Surrey's charming pub nominated for national award with 'best beer garden'

Surrey's business scene is thriving, with local entrepreneurs making their mark across various industries. The Muddy Stilettos National Muddy Awards has recently recognized several Surrey-based businesses for their excellence.

From charming pubs and elegant event venues to specialized services and fitness studios, these nominations showcase Surrey's vibrant business community and its contribution to the local economy.

There are around 21 categories, and five finalists for each. The winners will be announced on Thursday, July 11 and Muddy Stilettos has released it’s finalists for all of the different categories

One business nominated on the list, is a pub which has been named as one of Surrey's favourite beer garden spots. The Red Lion pub, in the heart of rural Chobham, has become one of the counties top spots for summer dining, boasting a gorgeous patio and garden.

The pub underwent extensive refurbishments in 2019 costing £250,000. Since then, it's offered fine dining and delicious food to customers from all over.

The summer menu boasts menu deals, including a two course dinner menu for £37 and three courses for £47. These dishes feature oysters Rockefeller, red snapper with ratatouille and basil foam for example.

A summery barbeque dining option has also been added to the list, with an eight-course menu at £95.00 per person . Customers rave about the glorious spot, and it's got some wonderful Google reviews. One customer wrote: "Probably the best 'pub' lunch I've had. I say that with inverted commas because their menu is pretty niche and simple to choose from. Excellent quality food and fantastic setting on a lovely summer's day. As you walk in via the car park, you'll see a large fish tank with an abundance of koi which is a nice feature. Excellent value and highly recommend if you're passing by the area."

Another wrote: "Lovely restaurant, great service. The food was lovely however the portions were very small. Very nouvelle cuisine. Like the little touches of canapés and petit fours. Good eminence and attentive staff."

Somersbury Barn (Ewhurst, Surrey) - Event Venue

Tucked away in the Surrey countryside, Somersbury Barn is the perfect spot for a rural wedding. The country house dates back to date back to the 16th century.

Boasting a large barn converted ancient barn and Victorian glasshouse, it makes a gorgeous wedding backdrop. The grounds feature lush farmland and a tranquil lake.

Discovery Land at Priory Farm (South Nutfield, Surrey) - Family Attraction

Close to the M25 and deep in the woodland is a magical playground children will love, with a fairy city theme. Children love feeding the carp at the lake, and spotting wild flowers in the woodland. Parking is free at the venue, and tickets are available online.

Taurus gets involved with customers by hosting wine tasting evenings, and offering help with planning events. They import champagnes and wines from around the world.

The Pilates Movement Studio (Guildford, Surrey) - Pilates Studio

Now with three locations, The Pilates Movement Studio has gone from strength to strength, delivering dynamic reformer classes. The popular classes have taken Surrey by storm, and are tailored to suit everyone’s fitness needs.

Set up by Guildford dwelling Jeff and Jane, the two wanted to establish somewhere with an inclusive environment, with all abilities welcome from the complete beginner to the more advanced.
