The entirety of Surrey has basked in sunny glory this weekend - billed to be the hottest weekend on record for 2024. Nowhere has been safe from the sweltering heat, as mercury shot up on Saturday (May 11) and Sunday (May 12).

Some parts of the county saw highs of 26C, which is hotter than sunny Palma in Spain. This 'mini-heatwave' might not last much longer, however.

It feels like summer appeared out of nowhere after dreary weeks of grey skies and temperatures of around 10C to 15C on average in recent weeks. But as soon as it's appeared, it’s soon set to disappear.

Tomorrow (May 13), temperatures could drop to around 17C. Skies also may turn grey and cloudy and, by about 8pm, stormy wet weather might hit, according to the Met Office.

Other parts of the UK will be swept by storms, with thunder and lightning, as yellow weather warnings have been issued. Surrey, though, hasn’t been issued such a warning as yet.

Next week, temperatures will be mild at around 17C on average in Surrey. Skies are likely to be cloudy, with sunny spells here and there.

Ahead of next weekend, however, conditions could once again brighten up. The Met Office forecasts that there will be highs of around 20C on Saturday (May 18) with sunny spells.
