Susanna Reid was left saying her goodbyes following the end of her latest stint at the helm of Good Morning Britain as she confirmed viewers won't be seeing her until later this year.

The presenter had been back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Wednesday (July 10) alongside Ed Balls. The pair have spent the past couple of days back in the studio after kicking off the week by reporting outside Westminster following Labour's landslide victory in the General Election last week.

As the programme commenced, Susanna probed whether returning to Westminster evoked any memories for her co-star, the former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. He concurred, remarking: "The first memory it brings back for me is two years ago standing here with you on this green the day Boris Johnson resigned as Prime Minister.

"Two years ago, feels like quite a long time ago. A lot of change in the last two years, a lot of change in the last few days." Susanna then pointed out that the new MPs are currently experiencing a whirlwind as they adjust to their altered roles in government.

But Susanna and Ed have since been seen directing the latest political news and other debates in the London-based ITV studio. Though it will be a while before GMB viewers see the pair co-hosting together again as Susanna confirmed it was her last show until September.

As the mid-week episode of the show came to a close, the broadcaster said: "I'm going to say goodbye because it's now time for me to go off on a break... You never know, I might pop up in the meantime. But otherwise, I'll see you back in September."

She went on to reassure a concerned that he was in the "capable hands" of the GMB team, including Charlotte Hawkins who was in the studio bringing viewers the latest news updates. "Do you have to? Can't you stay a bit?" Ed asked his co-star as she replied: "You will be in the capable hands of the rest of the Good Morning Britain team, including our lovely green highlighter this morning, Charlotte."

Referring to her own Barbie pink outfit, the 53-year-old added: "The pink highlighters off, I'll see you in September. Thanks for your company." She then shouted: "Come on England!" ahead of the football team's semi-final match in the Euros as Ed said: "Have a good holiday!" before the broadcast cut off and headed to Lorraine Kelly who was presenting her show from Buckingham Palace.
