Suspect Arrested After Pointing Gun at Pastor During Service

A 26-year-old man was arrested in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, after he pointed a gun at a pastor during a livestreamed service on Sunday, May 5.

Footage here shows Pastor Glenn Germany speaking at the Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in suburban Pittsburgh when a man approaches and points a gun at him. The man is then tackled by a congregant and Germany when the gun doesn’t fire.

“I’m thankful to God that I’m still here, because he definitely pulled the trigger,” Germany told WTAE.

WTAE reported that the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Bernard Polite, confessed to police that he tried to shoot Germany because “Gold told [him] to do it”, and planned to “wait to be arrested”, go to jail, and clear his mind.

Later on Sunday afternoon, police reported finding a body at Polite’s house, identified as 56-year-old Derek Polite. He was fatally shot, local news said. Credit: Glenn Germany via Storyful
