Suspect Nabbed After Chaotic Liquor Store Holdup

Police in Australia’s capital have arrested a man after they circulated video a suspect holding up a liquor store in a Canberra suburb on February 16, and the chaotic scenes that ensued.

Footage from a Bottle-O store in Mitchell shows the suspect producing a knife at the till. The clerk is then seen climbing over the counter, falling, and running for help, as the suspect struggles to empty the till. Police said she was injured as a result.

Two men then enter the store, with one running off as the still-armed bandit approaches. A struggle ensues involving a snack stand, with one of the men chasing the suspect through the store with it. The suspect was able to flee, but was left emptyhanded after his botched escapade.

ACT Police named the suspect as Mitchell Jacka. They said he would be in court on March 1 to face charges including aggravated robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon with intent, and aggravated burglary. Credit: ACT Police via Storyful
