A SUSPECTED bike thief has been arrested in Worcester today as part of an operation to tackle crime in the city centre.

A suspect was arrested in Worcester city centre as part of 'Operation Olympic' in connection with the theft of bicycles from The Hive.

A spokesperson for the Worcester Safer Neighbourhood Team, part of West Mercia Police, said on X (formerly Twitter): "Op Olympic. Within one hour city centre officers and Cathedral SNT have identified a suspect for stolen bikes, found him and arrested him."

Inspector Tanya Beckett said: "We have a report of a spate of cycle thefts predominantly from the cycle shed at the Hive. Through extensive enquiries and CCTV trawls we have been able to identify and arrest the offender believed to be responsible."
