Former Liverpool legends manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has shared how David Beckham recently spent a day with him at his farm in Bjorkefors, bringing along "six litres of wine" from significant years in his life.

Eriksson, who publicly announced his terminal cancer diagnosis in January and conceded that he may only have a year to live, spoke fondly of the former England captain's visit to his farm near Sunne during an interview on Radio Sweden's P4 Varmland channel.

"He came with six litres of wine from dates that were important to me," Eriksson revealed. "He had wine from 1948 the year I was born, very nice of him. He is genuine, he could have been a big diva, but he is quite the opposite."

Beckham - who captained England under Eriksson - also brought wine from 1982, marking the year Eriksson led IFK Goteborg to UEFA Cup victory, and from 2000, when he guided Lazio to the Serie A title.

Eriksson added: "He ate herring and potatoes and elk meat. The previous day he had sent a chef who fixed the food, and then he came and was here for a day. We sat chatting, a lot about football. It confirms, in a way, how great he is. He didn't have to come here. I felt proud that he came."

The kind gesture came after Liverpool asked Eriksson to manage the Legends team against Ajax in March. The Swede revealed he had always dreamed of managing the Reds one day, and the club subsequently gave him the opportunity to do so this year.

"That will be a huge memory in life," the 76-year-old said after securing a 4-2 win. "I cried, it’s beautiful of course. To sit on the bench for Liverpool has been the dream (for) my whole life, now it happened and it was a beautiful day - for all meaning, the crowd, the players and the game."
