Swansea City striker Jerry Yates has joined Championship rivals Derby County on a season-long loan.

The 27-year-old joined the Swans last summer, in a move believed to be worth around £2.5m, and finished the season as the club's joint top scorer alongside Jamal Lowe with nine goals in all competitions.

However, he is now set to spend the upcoming season with the Rams, who are preparing for life back in the second tier following their promotion back to League One.

It's understood there isn't an obligation to buy inserted into the deal, but the Rams have agreed to cover the striker's wages during his stay at Pride Park.

The move will also see Yates, whose current deal with the Swans expires in 2026, once again link up with boss Paul Warne, whom he worked under at Rotherham United.

Yates is likely to be followed out the door this week by defender Nathan Wood, who's on the brink of a permanent move to Premier League side Southampton.

It's understood the 22-year-old has travelled to the English south coast to complete a medical, and a move is expected to be completed within the next couple of days.

In terms of incomings, the club are hoping to complete a deal for Korean Eom Ji-Sung.

K-League side Gwangju have given the 22-year-old the green light to join the Swans, but there is still a little way to go in terms of negotiating a transfer fee.

Nevertheless, there is growing confidence that a deal can be struck, with Eom left out of his side's recent clash with Jeju on Sunday.
