A screaming, naked man has allegedly killed a woman jogging in a park in Switzerland.

Passers-by reported a man began attacking multiple people at Villa Alma Park in Männedorf shortly before 8pm on Tuesday evening.

According to the Zurich canton police, the attacker also injured another woman who suffered minor injuries.

A 19-year-old Swiss man was arrested by police.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and found a woman lying seriously injured on the ground, according to local reports.

Despite attempts to resuscitate her she died from her injuries.

Reports claim the perpetrator attacked the woman “loudly, and completely naked” before he was caught.

An employee at the nearby Villa Alma retirement home told Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger they watched the scene from 150 metres away.

They described how a naked man ran around in circles as if in a trance and he also heard screams.

Shortly afterwards, police and rescue workers drove up and cordoned off the area.

Joel Eichenberger, 26, said: “There are a lot of young people out and about in this park in the evenings. It's crazy what happened here.”

One witness told Swiss newspaper Blick that they saw a body “lying under golden insulation foil”.

A nearby resident also told the paper they saw a lifeless woman lying by the side of a lake.

They said: “It cannot be a swimming accident, as the spot is not easy to reach.

“It is a narrow spot that can only be reached via a narrow staircase.”

Another resident also described seeing a “dirty, blood-stained helper coming back from the shore”.

Police are still investigating whether the alleged attacker and victim knew each other.

A crime scene was still in place on Wednesday morning and a pool of blood on a path in the park had been covered with sand, Tages-Anzeiger reoorts.

It is unclear how many people were in the park at the time of the attack.
