Bookies were doubt whatsoever who they thought would win Britain's Got Talent this year and they proved to be spot on, as Sydnie Christmas is the 2024 champion.

The singer was the first act in the new series of the ITV show to get the Golden Buzzer, with Amanda Holden being so blown away by her version of Tomorrow from Annie that she hit it in episode one, sealing Sydnie's guaranteed place in the semi finals. And there was more of the same in the knockouts, when Sydnie got a stand ovation from the judges and got a rating of '11 out of 10' from Simon Cowell, for her rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way.

Sydnie topped the public vote, putting her straight through to Sunday's final and, now she's there, experts are confident she's going to go all the way, with her well ahead of her rivals in the odds on who would emerge as Britain's Got Talent champion and her then delivering a very impressive performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the night.

Sydnie, 28, started acting at a young age and, like many other performers, went straight into the entertainment industry after graduating from the D&B Academy of Performing Arts in London in 2014.

Sydnie made her professional debut as one of the lead voices in Lazarus at the King's Cross Theatre in the capital, before travelling the world as lead performer on cruise ships The Independence of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas for Royal Caribbean International. During her time at sea, she played Rizzo in Grease and also appeared as the youngest muse in Starwater.

From 2019-20 she was in Starlight Express and, there were a few eyebrows raised after her Golden Buzzer moment, when people found out about her existing career.

Prior to auditioning for Britain's Got Talent, Sydnie worked in a gym, although she is now set to be catapulted to huge stardom after her win on Sunday night.
