Who is Sydnie Christmas and why is she favourite to win Britain's Got Talent?

Bookies are certain about their favourite for this year's Britain's Got Talent crown, and it's none other than Sydnie Christmas.

The talented singer was the first act in the new series of the ITV show to receive the Golden Buzzer, courtesy of Amanda Holden, who was left astounded by her rendition of 'Tomorrow' from Annie during the first episode. This performance secured Sydnie's spot in the semi-finals.

Her knockout round performance, a rendition of Frank Sinatra's 'My Way', earned her a standing ovation from the judges and an '11 out of 10' rating from Simon Cowell.

Sydnie won the public vote, propelling her straight into Sunday's final. Now that she's made it this far, experts are confident she'll take the title, with odds heavily favouring her over her competitors, even before we know what song she'll perform in her bid for victory, reports Chronicle Live.

Who is Britain's Got Talent's Sydnie Christmas?

Sydnie, aged 28, began acting at a young age and, like many performers, entered the entertainment industry immediately after graduating from the DandB Academy of Performing Arts in London in 2014.

Sydnie made her professional debut as one of the lead voices in Lazarus at the King's Cross Theatre in London, before travelling the world as a lead performer on Royal Caribbean International's cruise ships The Independence of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas. During her time at sea, she played Rizzo in Grease and also appeared as the youngest muse in Starwater.

From 2019-20, she was in Starlight Express and, there were a few eyebrows raised after her Golden Buzzer moment, when people found out about her existing career.

Before auditioning for Britain's Got Talent, Sydnie worked in a gym, although she is now set to be catapulted to huge stardom, whatever the outcome on Sunday night.
