Syria: IS Vows To Continue Kobani Battle

Islamic State (IS) militants have vowed to continue their fight to control the besieged Syrian town of Kobani on the Turkey border.

The insurgents have purportedly released footage showing the destruction caused by US-led airstrikes in the area, including rubble and damaged buildings.

The video also contained pictures of thick black smoke and the sound of aircraft as well as an explosion and gunfire.

Fighting is still raging in and around Kobani as IS continues its assault despite strong resistance from the town's Kurdish forces and coalition aerial attacks.

In the video, an unnamed IS fighter said: "This is Ayn al-Arab (Kobani in Arabic) and those who think that we will be leaving it are wrong, we will not leave it by God's will."

It is not known when this footage was taken, but airstrikes were carried out on Sunday and Monday.

IS have seized large parts of Syria and Iraq in the last few months as they declared a caliphate (Islamic State) spanning the two countries.
