Watch: Tamzin Outhwaite says Bruno Tonioli once banned her from doing close-ups because of her acne!
Tamzin Outhwaite has claimed that Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli once told her not to appear in a close-up because of her acne.
The EastEnders star, 49, said the conversation took place when the pair were shooting a Freixenet advert together several years ago.
Speaking on Celebrity Skin Talk to host Scott McGlynn, Outhwaite said that Tonioli was choreographing the ad and that she was “mortified” when he asked her to sit out the close-up.
She said: “When I was in my early 20s, I was doing a commercial a Freixenet champagne commercial, as a champagne bubble.
“I was a champagne bubble, I had a little blonde wig and lots of us had them.
“It was Don Johnson playing the piano and we were the champagne bubbles on the piano keys. We had these little blonde bobs and we were in gold lame all-in-ones.”
The actress went on: “Bruno Tonioli was our choreographer. We were filming it in Barcelona - these were the really exciting glamorous days of this industry.
“We were in Barcelona and my acne, one morning, came up very bad around my jaw line. It was raised so it couldn't be covered.
'I remember Bruno said, ‘I'm really sorry, but I'm going to have to sit you out for this close-up shot.’ And It was because of my acne.
'I was mortified.”
The TV star went on: “I remember feeling mortified about the fact that something so physical on my face was stopping me doing something I loved.”
Yahoo has contacted representatives for Tonioli for comment.
