Tas Hussain is on another level in Meakins' NSSCL Division Two triumph

Tas Hussain produced a man-of-the-match display in Meakins seconds’ NSSCL Division Two home win against Moddershall & Oulton thirds.

All-rounder Hussain showcased his batting quality first of all, plundering 142 not out to form the backbone of Meakins’ imposing 283-9 from their 50 overs.

His innings contained 18 fours and six sixes, with Tariq Mughal (30), Josh Clayton (29) and Shafique Hussain (25) all making starts.

Madeesha Eliyadura claimed 3-93 for the Modd men, with double strikes coming from Nishantha Jayakody and Dinesh Cooray.

In reply, Tharaka Jayawardane (47), Shameera Weerasinghe (26) and Cooray (24) all starred.

However, it was Tas Hussain’s day as the left-arm spinner captured 4-36 to leave Moddershall & Oulton all out for 184.

Clayton and Tom Fox also shared four wickets in a comfortable Meakins success.

Moddershall & Oulton seconds eased to an eight-wicket victory over Wedgwood.

Visitors Wedgwood were dismissed for 134, despite Ramzan Mohammed making 52 and Usman Saleem chipping in with 32.

Dan Colclough was the pick of the Modd men’s attack, taking 3-18.

Moddershall & Oulton required just 17.2 overs to knock off the runs.

Joe Mason made 53, which contained four fours and four sixes, with Rory Jones adding 56 not out, an innings featuring five boundaries and five maximums.

Sandyford were in sparkling form to see off the challenge of Longton seconds.

Half-centuries from Craig Leese and Ben Turnock, below, powered Sandyford to 232-8 declared.

Leese hit seven fours and three sixes in his 74, while Turnock’s 68 included 12 fours.

Lee Ridgway captured 3-28 for Longton, with Alen Alex scooping a couple of scalps.

Brodie Mack fronted the Longton run chase with 50. His innings contained seven fours and one six.

Alex (21) and Ridgway (18) also made starts, but Longton were bowled out for 134.

There were three wickets apiece for Kieron McKinney (3-20), Leese (3-22) and Jamie Oakley (3-29).

Checkley seconds had a fine day on the road as they won at Crewe.

James Bennett was in excellent touch to make 71 - hitting seven fours and one six in the process - as Checkley navigated their way to 176-5 from their 50 overs.

Andy Carr (30no) and Peter Appleboam (24no) added late impetus to the innings.

Faisal Mahmood (4-18) was the star turn with the ball for Crewe.

The Cheshire hosts’ reply never really got off the ground, although Puneeth Nidamanuri (17), Tate Rutter (15) and Ben Jarvis (13) made starts.

But they were skittled for 81 as Ben Haslegrave took 3-19, with six wickets being shared by Charlie Lewis, Dan Amos and Appleboam.

Stafford were also away-day winners as they pocketed the points on their visit to Elworth seconds.

Hareen Buddila and Guy Seaton struck 63 and 62 respectively as Stafford progressed to 219-4 declared.

Buddila’s innings featured nine fours, with Seaton hitting 12 fours in his knock.

Robert James built on that fine work with 42 not out, while Mike Holt took a couple of wickets.

Sam Baldwin (43), Leo Chatzigeorgiou (33) and Luke Pickles (20) made handy contributions in Elworth’s post-tea reply.

However, Matthew Turner’s 3-29, allied to two wickets apiece for Buddila, Alfie Rushton and Seaton, saw Elworth dismissed for 147.

Little Stoke cruised to an eight-wicket win at Audley seconds.

J Evans’ fine haul of 6-34 instigated Audley’s demise to 109 all out. Niall Redman top-scored with 41.

J Askey (37) and S Jones (33) then dealt with batting business as Little Stoke swept to the points with just 23.5 overs.
