Tatton Park changes rules on where dogs are allowed in the grounds
Tatton Park is changing the rules on where dogs are allowed in the grounds of the historic estate.
At the moment, dogs are allowed within the parkland and can exercise off lead for most of the year. Restrictions tighten between May 1 and July 31, when all dogs must be kept on a lead to prevent attacks on animals including deer calves and sheep.
Now bosses have decided that dogs will be allowed inside the formal gardens at the park, so they can explore the 50 acres of formal and landscaped gardens with their owners.

The new rules will come into play from May 1, but dog owners are being encouraged to keep them well under control - they must be on short leads - and to clear up any mess.
A spokesperson said: "This new dog initiative in the gardens, will be trialled across the summer months and will be reviewed at the end of September 2024. Not everyone loves dogs, and some people fear them, so visitors are reminded to make sure their dogs don’t approach other people, especially children, unless it’s invited to. Remember to always pick up your pooch's poo too."
Visitors are urged to check the updated guidelines on the website here and to look out for signage on site, during their visit.
Tickets for the park cost £8 per car Monday to Friday and £9.50 at weekends. To visit the formal gardens it costs £9 for adults, £7 for children, aged four to 15, or £24 for a family of two adults and up to three children.
Or you can get a Totally Tatton ticket, giving access to the three attractions - farm, mansion and gardens - for £16 per adult, £9 per child, or £39 for a family.
