Taylor Swift stood up for her band following a jab from Dave Grohl at the Foo Fighters' London gig, emphasising how her entire band plays live throughout her lengthy concerts.

The chart-topping sensation made it clear in her acknowledgment: "What you just did is an unforgettable moment in not just my life, but every very single one of our crew.

"The band that's going to be playing live for you for three and a half to four hours tonight.

"They deserve this so much and so does every one of my fellow performers, and you just gave that to us so generously. We'll never forget it."

This statement was Swift's response after rumours circulated that Grohl poked fun at her during Foo Fighters performance on Saturday night at the London Stadium.

While Foo Fighters are no strangers to large venues such as Wembley Stadium, Dave's comments regarding Taylor's simultaneous concert elsewhere in London caused a stir among the crowd. Amid boos, Dave quipped: "You don't want the f****g Swifties on your a**", reports the Mirror.

His remarks didn't stop there: "Anyway when we f****g played Wembley I remember our manager said, 'Do you want to play Wembley? ' And I was like, 'Yeah that would be f****g great but I don't really know if we can because I don't know who is going to show up and then you motherf****s came and gave us the biggest shows we'd ever played in our lives."

Later in the evening, the Foo Fighters frontman remarked: "We were joking about the Taylor Swift tour earlier. I know that she's on her 'Eras' tour. I'm telling you man, you don't want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift."

He continued with a jest, saying: "So we like to call our tour the Errors Tour. We've had more than a few Errors and more than a few f****g Eras as well."

He made it clear: "Just a couple...that's because we actually play live. What?'".

The audience erupted into cheers when he went on to say: "Just saying. You guys like raw live rock 'n' roll music right? You came to the right f***ing place!"

Previously, the Foo Fighters leader has spoken warmly about Swift, commending her for re-recording her albums and even recounting how she once "saved" him during a gig at an event hosted by Sir Paul McCartney.

Yet, fans were bewildered by his remarks as they took to Twitter. One fan expressed their surprise, posting: "I find people like Dave Grohl sh**** on Taylor Swift so fascinating because 1. He's spoken highly of her before, 2. They're not remotely in competition and 3. If he'd literally said, I feel like Taylor Swift, she's doing something really cool, swifties would've RALLIED to them."

Others speculated that Grohl's apparent dig at Taylor and her fanbase, the "Swifties" might stem from his daughter, Violet being harassed online following her deleted tweet criticising Taylor's carbon footprint. She had questioned: "Why can't Taylor Swift just drive like everyone else."

One fan commented: "Wow I wonder what prompted Dave Grohl to take a little swipe at Taylor Swift? I'm sure it's totally unprovoked and not at all to do with his 17-year-old daughter being relentlessly trolled and sent death threats from Swifties because of this totally innocuous tweet back in January."
