A Taylor Swift fan has spent over 17 hours queuing overnight for her Cardiff show after booking tickets "as a joke". Dylan Izadseta, 42, has come all the way from California to the Welsh capital for the show with her 11-year-old daughter Brooklyn.

They arrived at the Principality Stadium at 3pm on Monday, June 17 and haven't left the area since. Speaking to WalesOnline from the queue on Stadium Plaza on Tuesday morning, she said their trip to the UK had been something they joked about after they struggled to get tickets for the Eras Tour in the US.

"We actually came here as a joke," she said. "The Eras presale tour was sold out [in the US] within minutes so my daughter had mentioned maybe looking internationally." For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter.

"We had a look and tickets were pretty reasonable so we booked them and within a week we had booked our plane tickets, hotels and decided to make a family vacation of it. I am terrified of flying. The UK is so beautiful and it's been amazing so far. We hope to come back."

Dylan said security staff at the Principality - which put out a message yesterday urging Swifties not to camp overnight ahead of the concert - were friendly when they turned up at 3pm on Monday although there were few others around. "Initially we were up towards the lines [gates] but you can't camp there so we were pushed back to the main entrance [by Stadium Plaza]," she said. "Security were with us all night making sure we were comfortable and safe so it's been a very pleasant experience."

Dylan added that although they were sleep-deprived after a night in Cardiff, they felt the experience would be worth it as it was their first time seeing Taylor Swift. "We have not adjusted to the time difference yet. We are eight hours behind and it's a 19-hour flight so it's definitely been a journey but it is well worth the no sleep."

Moving away from us, she apologised as she went to speak to a small group of fans who had said they wouldn't be joining at the back of the queue. "I'm sorry to be rude but they are not getting in front of me, that's not going to happen," she said.
