Taylor Swift fans have spotted a problem after Liverpool FC unveiled a special gift to mark her three gigs at Anfield.

Taylor is performing at the home of LFC for three gigs as part of the Eras Tour, starting tonight. 50,000 people are expected at the stadium each night.

Swifties have been queuing at the stadium from 5am, with many travelling from around the world for the occasion. The stadium normally hosts football matches on a pristine green pitch, but this has been removed to create a suitable standing area for the stadium.

Liverpool as a city has embraced Taylor’s arrival, with artwork springing up around the city centre based on her different albums and themed nights taking place. LFC has joined in with these efforts too.

On its social media accounts this morning, the club showed ‘Taylor Swift’ being added to the back of the new home shirt with the number 24 added to the back, presumably to represent the year 2024.

There were many humorous comments left by Liverpool fans about Taylor’s shirt. Callum Fry said: “What position does she play?” Brady Rule added: “Is she any good as a defensive midfielder?”

A Swfitie fan account added: “Taylor Swift will have more appearances at Anfield than Arthur Melo.” This in reference to the mysterious Brazilian midfielder who only played 13 minutes after he signed for Liverpool in 2022, which was a late substitute appearance away at Napoli.

However, many suggested a different number should have been put on the back. Amy said: “Should be 13.” Resha added: “Make it 13.” Another Swifite asked: “Why is it not 13?”

13 is Taylor’s lucky number, with the star previously telling MTV News: "I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks."

As the first gig is taking place today on June 13, many believe Taylor has something special planned for the occasion, with some Swifties speculating Sir Paul McCartney could be a surprise guest at the show.

One fan had another theory. Leo Bremond said: “Watch Klopp make a surprise appearance on stage.” The New York Times has reported the 56-year-old would be attending the Taylor Swift Era's tour when it comes to Liverpool. Klopp is supposedly a fan of Taylor's hit Shake It Off.

The number 13 at Liverpool is currently worn by back-up goalkeeper Adrian, and was previously held by fellow goalkeeper Alisson. Other well known wearers of the number include midfielder Danny Murphy and David James, who was also a goalkeeper.

The 24 shirt meanwhile is currently vacant, and was last occupied by young striker Rhian Brewster. Murphy also sported the number 24 for a time, as did Welsh midfielder Joe Allen and French striker David N'Gog.
