Taylor Swift fuels Deadpool 3 rumours as she’s spotted with director Shawn Levy

Taylor Swift was recently photographed walking around New York City with Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy, furthering fan speculation that she will make a surprise cameo.

For months, rumours have been swirling that Swift, 33, is expected to portray mutant pop star Dazzler in the forthcoming sequel.

Weeks ago, the Grammy-winning artist only increased Marvel fan conjectures after she attended a New York Jets vs Kansas City Chiefs game with Deadpool 3 stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.

While Levy – who has taken over the reins from Deadpool 2 director David Leitch – hasn’t confirmed the Swift casting rumours, recent paparazzi pictures have convinced fans otherwise.

On Thursday (26 October), photos of Swift walking around New York City with the Canadian director were posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

The “Anti-Hero” singer can be seen wearing an oversized black sweater, brown calf-high boots, and a tan Ralph Lauren baseball hat as she stood beside the Free Guy director.

“Something good is coming out of this,” one fan commented. “LADY DEADPOOL OR DAZZLER IS COMING,” a second hypothesised, with a third adding: “The clues are all there.”

“We’re ready,” another said, alongside an edited graphic of Swift in costume as Dazzler.

Earlier on Thursday, Levy appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where host Josh Horowitz asked if “the word ‘Dazzler’ ever escaped anyone’s lips when you’ve been in a room with Taylor”?

“Um, it sure escapes the lips of social media every day, and that’s all I’m gonna say,” Levy responded.

Horowitz followed up, wondering if Swift would “be a good Dazzler”, to which the director cryptically answered: “Sounds like a great idea.”

Reynolds, who stars as Wade/Deadpool, originally denied that Swift would be appearing in the film, telling Entertainment Tonight in November 2022 that he would “of course” be happy for her to do so.

The movie, which will be the first Deadpool film since Disney’s 2019 acquisition of Fox – meaning it will be released under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) umbrella – will welcome Jackman’s final outing as X-Men character, Wolverine.

Jackman is expected to retire from his role as the vigilante following his Deadpool 3 feature, with Daniel Radcliffe and Welsh actor Taron Egerton leading predictions for who will take over.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner will reprise the role of Elektra in Deadpool 3 for the first time since her critically maligned solo outing in 2005.

Deadpool 3 will be released in cinemas on 8 November 2024.
