Taylor Swift superfans 'queue from 5am' ahead of Murrayfield Eras Tour show

Superfans were already queueing in the early hours of Friday morning.

Taylor Swift superfans from Scotland and all over were up early on Friday with queues forming outside Murrayfield 'from 5am'.

While doors don't open until 4pm, some were keen to claim their place at the front of the line at for the first of three Eras Tour shows in Edinburgh this weekend.

Many could be seen lying across the grass in the area surrounding the stadium with measures in place for queuing to continue throughout the day and to keep fans safe.

Edinburgh Live reports one punter said there were "no campers, just people queueing". The fan, who goes by who goes by Dr Libi on social media, suggested staff were on hand trying to keep "disturbance to a minimum".

Documenting the experience on TikTok, she said: "There hasn't been campers, just people queueing. Been here since 5am, having a costume change a bit later.

"There's about 40 people in general standing queue. The staff were all here at 5am, and the queue lines set out.

"They're trying to keep disturbance to a minimum. You can still go to the bathroom, everyone is great at keeping your spot safe."

People flooded the comments section, some impressed while others were "relieved". Anthony Bawia said: "I am so happy for having seated tickets but enjoy the view!"

Elizabeth added: "Meanwhile I'm still at home in my jammies, not leaving for another five hours. Have the best time!"

Abbie commented: "I'd be doing exactly the same in my younger days! Totally worth it, have the best time."

Nancy Carroll posted: "You're Scottish - so get that barrier and be at the front, you deserve it!"

Kai Walker and Jasmine Brown, both aged 22, drove around six hours from Essex to Edinburgh for the concert.

Ms Brown said: "I've basically been a Taylor Swift fan since I was born, since I was a little girl. I saw her live on her Reputation tour (in 2018)."

Mr Walker, dressed in a tuxedo, pale pink waistcoat and tie, said: "I think I'm most looking forward to a song called Enchanted that she sings because it was the song me and Jasmine first heard when we got together".

Ms Brown, who was wearing a pink dress, added: "Aw, that was really cute! I'm the same as Kai obviously, but I'm also looking forward to the song Lover and also The Tortured Poets Department set."

Trams packed full of Swift fans have been arriving at the tram stop near the stadium.

Swift, 34, is in Scotland to perform her three and a half hour show tonight as part of the £1 billion world tour.

It is the first of three sell out stadium shows at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, which will be seen by around 220,000 fans.

The Tortured Poets Department hitmaker, who last played Scotland at Glasgow’s Hydro venue in 2015, told The Record: “Every time I perform in Scotland it honestly feels like I am coming home."

Swift’s shows are described as “the tour of a generation”.

For each concert, she’ll perform 46 of her best loved songs from 10 albums in her 18-year career and make 16 costume changes.
