Taylor Tomlinson Named Host of CBS’ ‘After Midnight,’ From Stephen Colbert

CBS has tapped stand-up comedian Taylor Tomlinson to host its new late night franchise “After Midnight.” The series is executive produced by Stephen Colbert, who announced Tomlinson during Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Tomlinson then discussed the news with Colbert on stage.

Tomlinson’s recent TV credits include her Netflix comedy specials “Look At You” and “Quarter Life Crisis.”

As announced earlier today, “After Midnight” will launch in early 2024 in the slot previously held by “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” It’s based on “@midnight,” which followed “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” from October 2013 to August 2017, was a panel series with mostly guest comedians, who would interact with host Chris Hardwick.

Earlier this year Tomlinson sealed a deal with Netflix for her next two standup specials to premiere on the streamer. Tomlinson taped her latest special in Washington, D.C., for a 2024 premiere date.

Tomlinson saw her star rise in 2020 when “Quarter-Life Crisis” launched on Netflix right before the pandemic started. Meanwhile, Tomlinson said she’s still at work on a Village Roadshow Pictures film based on her upbringing, which she’s writing with Taylor Tetreau and will star in, for director Paul Weitz.

Jack Martin, showrunner on all four seasons of “@midnight, and Eric Pierce will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Comedian and writer Jo Firestone will be co-executive producer and head writer. Alexx Wells will also serve as co-executive producer.

The series is executive produced by Stephen Colbert; Carrie Byalick, president of Spartina Industries; Tom Purcell, an executive producer at “The Late Show”; Evelyn McGee Colbert; and James Dixon of Dixon Talent. The Spartina team is joined by executive producers Joe Farrell, Mike Farah, Whitney Hodack and Henry R. Muñoz III from Funny Or Die. Jason U. Nadler of Serious Business, who co-created “@midnight,” is also an executive producer.
