Team supporting armed forces charity take on Tough Mudder

Staff members from a property developer have taken on a Tough Mudder near Henley to raise money for an Armed Forces charity.

The team from Vistry Thames Valley took part in Tough Mudder London West, braving a course that included mud, water, electric shocks, ice baths and a 40ft net.

The 23-strong group completed the 20 obstacle, 10-mile course at the Culden Faw Estate near Henley.

They raised £1,500 for SSAFA, which supports all members of the Armed Forces, including retired veterans and those struggling with life after leaving the forces.

Trevor Wicks, managing director of Vistry Thames Valley, was part of the team which took on the course for the third time this year.

He said: "It was a tough 10-mile race, but the hardest part was definitely the extreme hills around the course. They were an absolute killer.

"However, being involved in a team and the spirit of everyone being in it together was definitely a highlight.

"The obstacles also produced a laugh from seeing teammates attempt them, especially the electric shocks."

He added: "Seeing our numbers grow from only 10 participants two years ago to 23 this year is great.

“We are so proud of the amount we have raised and hope this helps SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.”

Vistry Thames Valley has now raised a total of £11,350 for the charity, already exceeding the region’s £10,000 fundraising target for the year.
