Teen Asks For Yes Vote on Same-Sex Marriage Plebiscite

Fourteen-year-old Eddie Blewett spoke in Canberra on September 12 in support of marriage equality on behalf of himself and his family, as his parents are both female.

“People who know my family know there’s nothing wrong with us,” Eddie said.

“I have two parents. They love me and they love each other. All couples and all families deserve the same respect and value.”

A postal survey asking whether same-sex couples should be allowed to marry will be mailed to 16 million Australian voters from September 12, after the High Court ruled on September 7 that the government’s $122 million plebiscite was lawful. The results of the survey will be available on November 15. Credit: Bill Shorten MP via Storyful
