Wakeboarder towed behind Ferrari F50 at a frankly bonkers 84mph

‘It is dangerous, but you have to put forget about the dangerous side until afterwards. When we did it at full speed it was fine. It went perfectly.’

This is the moment a teenage wakeboarding champion was pulled up a river at 84mph - by a £1 million Ferrari.

Daredevil Jorge Gill, 19, got onto a wakeboard and grabbed hold of a rope attached to the bright yellow Ferrari F50, while the driver of the 202mph car accelerated off as he held on for dear life.

The two-time European wakeboarding champion hurtled along the river in Lincolnshire, as the Ferrari allegedly hit speeds of around 84mph.

Jorge, from North London, became an Internet sensation earlier this year when he wakeboarded through a flooded car park in Guildford.

The adrenaline junkie, who is also a five-time national champion, had the idea for his latest stunt while travelling through Europe.

He said: ‘I was on a mini-bus in Portugal when the idea came to me as a supercar flew past the bus and next to it was a river. And the idea clicked, combining a supercar with wakeboarding seemed very unique to me.

‘I then spoke to the guys who have the cars and they loved the idea and took control. Within a few weeks the idea became a reality.

Speaking about his high-speed river ride, Jorge said: ‘I was a little nervous beforehand. Normally I do around 20mph but for this I was going a lot faster.

‘It is dangerous, but you have to put forget about the dangerous side until afterwards. When we did it at full speed it was fine. It went perfectly.’

TaxTheRich, a secretive group of petrolheads known for making extraordinary car videos, shot the film in the Lincolnshire countryside.

In the past they have thrashed a Rolls-Royce around a country estate, and also taken a Ferrari Enzo rallying.

The Tax The Rich YouTube page only has 15 videos on it, but they have racked up a staggering 34.8 million views.

However, this is the first time a sports car has taken a back seat in one of the group’s videos.
