A Tennessee teen who went missing in Florida last week has been found safe, according to the Pensacola Police Department.

Abigail Kate Velez, the 16-year-old daughter of a Tennessee police officer, disappeared after she left a Florida hospital voluntarily last week, authorities previously said.

Velez was reported missing on Thursday, June 6, the Pensacola Police Department shared in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Velez left on her own accord from the Baptist Hospital, Mike Wood, public information officer for the Pensacola Police Department, tells PEOPLE. According to Wood, she was not believed to be in any danger.

The teen was taken to the hospital by her father for an unknown reason, ABC affiliate WATE reported.

A local non-profit foundation for law enforcement and their families said in a post on Facebook that the dad is a state police officer and that they were on vacation in Pensacola.

Wood noted that authorities are continuing to look for her across the state.

Before the teen was found, Nancy Barger, Velez's aunt, shared a message, begging her niece to come home, WATE reported.

“Abby, honey, if you see this we are all looking for you and we love you dearly and your mom and dad are worried to death and so are your brothers, so just try to reach out to anyone of us if you can,” Barger said.

On Tuesday, June 11, police announced that Velez had been located and was safe.

In a subsequent update, police announced that Crystal D. Hornsby, the teen's biological mom, had been arrested on accusations of "interference with child custody."

"Hornsby was charged based on a warrant taken out by Pensacola Police Investigators, who determined Hornsby assisted Velez as she traveled from Pensacola to St. Petersburg," according to police.

She is currently being held in Pinellas County Jail, according to jail records. Additional information was not immediately available.

The Pinellas County Jail tells PEOPLE that Hornsby does not have a public defender yet.
