Teen Girl Survives Plane Crash And Hikes For Days To Safety

Autumn Veatch, 16, crash landed in heavy forest

A teenage girl has miraculously survived a plane crash after landing in heavy forest and hiking for three days.

Autumn Veatch, 16, who was flying in a Beech A-35 light plane, crashed in the mountains of north-central Washington state, USA.

Authorities were alerted when the plane, which left from Kalispell, Montana, did not arrive in Lynden, Washington on Saturday afternoon.

The fate of her two step-grandparents, who were also on the plane, is not yet known.

Veatch was found by a motorist on Monday and driven 30 miles to a shop in Mazama, Washington where 911 was called.

She was admitted to hospital with minor injuries.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers told the Associated Press that she had been "walking for a couple of days" when found.

“We’re not going into the status of the grandparents. She was the only one who walked out,” Rogers said. “She just said they came out of the clouds, and it crashed.”

The search continues for the crashed plane and girl’s grandparents.
